I have a tag for origin stories that isolates various panels that have touched on Clint’s past, and that might be a place to start. As for complete stories…
Clint’s origins have been rewritten several times, and have gone through many retcons. For instance, originally he never knew his parents and had simply been raised in the circus rather than running away to join it after his parents’ deaths. It wasn’t until Barney was introduced and Clint finally got a civilian name that that story was revised. So it really depends on which version of the story you’re after, and how far back you’d like to go, reading wise. But that all being said, here are a few recommendations:
You can delve further back into Tales of Suspense and the classic Avengers stories for more reading, but the above should give you a good place to start. It’s worth mentioning that the latest run of Hawkeye has introduced some new elements to Clint’s past— namely, childhood deafness. Jeff Lemire has also said that he plans to focus on Clint’s history with the circus in the next volume of Hawkeye, so we’ll have to see together how much these stories are revised or maintained. Happy reading!
there’s this stereotype that girls are only into comics and nerd culture to get guys, and you know, i think that’s absolutely true. i am definitely here to get guys, specifically steve rogers, do you know where I can find him?
OKAY. OKAY. LISTEN UP:
WHAt if Tadashi actually survived the fire
and he turns into a hero.
into Sunfire.
because Sunfire actually appears in the Big Hero 6 (marvel) coMICS.
SEE???
DISNEY. PLEASE MAKE THIS AN ACTUAL THING.
OH
MY FUCKING GOD.
THIS IS REAL
GUYS.
THEY MADE IT.
BIG HERO 7 IT WILL BE A THING.
AND TADASHI WILL BE SUNFIRE.
OH GOD
Imagine the heartbreak of hearing your brother lived through the fire that you thought killed him, only to find out he doesn’t know you and considers you an obstacle to his goals.
So it’s like the Winter Soldier on the opposite end of the thermometer?
THATS IT.
literally never read comics just set yourself on fire instead it saves you the time and money
Seems like barely anyone even cares about the clear and blatant ableism in the movies
We need more Deaf representation in the world!
I wouldn’t tell my nine-year-old self anything! I’ve seen Back to the Future enough to know that you don’t mess with time. Nice try, bro.
today i was called out for not being a “true fan” by a comics guy because i wearing hawkeye shirt. and not just any hawkeye shirt, mind you. a hawkeye shirt that i designed.
Fuck that store. Fuck that guy.
I was in a comic book store tossing up between two Captain America comics, when a neck beard came up to me and asked “first comic? no clue obviously” and I instinctually replied “first time speaking to a girl? no clue obviously”
I’m gonna work at it until this is my instinctual reply to this shit.
I was in Barnes and Nobles today and I looked at their SFX magazine to see if there was anything interesting in this month’s issue about Marvel and there was an interview with Joss Whedon in there and he said that he “didn’t read the comics for this movie” because all he needed to know was that Ultron was an angry robot.
I think that sums up why Age of Ultron turned out the way it did.
ALWAYS READ THE SOURCE METERIAL! That’s rule #1 of adapting a screenplay
So in the comics Hawkeye has 80% hearing loss.
The Black Widow is Russian.
Can you imagine when they’re on a mission and something goes wrong; the police are about to arrest them and they fall back on Plan H.
Black Widow, “So remember, you’re deaf and I don’t speak English”
Successful 92.6% of the time.
